Sometimes I find an object at a brocante that draws me in. Perhaps it’s the color, or its usefulness, or simply because I haven’t seen one before. Such was the case last week when I happened upon this sweet ceramic wine cask with its basketweave design and handles at a nearby sale. I love the color, and it would fit equally well in a simple French country aesthetic or an edited mid-century space. And he’s useful. Fill him with your favorite vinegar and let him sit in the front of your collection of oil bottles in your kitchen. But mostly he came home with me because I hadn’t seen one before, and I was charmed.

In excellent vintage condition. No maker mark on the bottom.
