Antique French Clay Casserole Dish

I have been smitten by older French pottery and dinnerware since moving to southwest France. I love the graceful forms and how easily the dish can go from oven to table. My cupboard is bursting and it’s time to share the collection. This one must have held a grandmother’s pride and joy long ago. This type of cassoulet bowl is indicative of the region. I use them frequently. They can serve a meal for two. (My mac and cheese looks almost French when I serve it in a clay dish.) Great for serving a salad, displaying fruit, or it can hold guest towels in the powder room. Pourquoi pas?

This is an old example but there are no cracks or chips. Yet, it has all the patina that you expect and desire in authentic old French pottery. This is coming right from the source in the south of France.

5 3/4 inches (14.5 cm) in diameter

3 1/2 inches tall (8 cm) tall
