Winterling Bavaria Mid Century Dessert Small Plates

One can never have too many small plates. You use them for everything. Little desserts. A tiny morsel with your afternoon tea. For a slice of toast to go with a soft boiled egg. This set of 4 Mid Century plates are a wonderful, triangular shape. They are soft in color with the sweetest of stylized, modern flowers. Given their mark, they were made by the Winterling Marktleuthen company some time after 1950 and before the 1960s. Little is known of this Bavarian company, for most of its records were destroyed in a fire. I had a conversation with a gentleman in Berlin and he explained that many individuals hunt for this particular china. I just loved the way they looked. All four are in good condition without chips or cracks. There are a few imperfections in the original glaze - a touch of gold flecks - and a bit of wearing to the design and the gold rim. But their vintage patina only adds to their charm. You will love using them the next time you set out treats at your mahjong game.
