East Germany was a state from 1949 to 1990 when the eastern portion of Germany was divided following World War II. Officially the name in English was German Democratic Republic (GDR) and in the German language it is Deutsche Demokratische Republik (DDR). You will find both marks on ceramics when shopping the flea markets in Berlin. In fact, this city is the best place to hunt for mid century items. I still have a soft spot for this style’s simple and modern design. I think it pairs well with most any interior decor.

I’m calling this a cider pitcher. We use one to decant our Normandy cider into when it’s crepe night at our house. But it can hold whatever you like. It’s in great vintage condition with some imperfections to the original glaze. Always been there and adds to the vintage quality of the piece. There are no nicks, chips, or cracks. These were utilitarian objects in the last century. Produced with everyone in mind. Simple. Practical. I love this golden color. I also have a matching set of Mid Century mixing bowls in the shop.

4 1/4 inches in diameter not including the spout
