Bavarian Porcelain Breakfast Set

165.00

It is almost cherry blossom time. Spring is around the corner and I can see the tiny buds appearing out my window. I cannot wait to enjoy those delicate little flowers that only last a short time. It is probably my love of cherry trees that drew my eye directly to this fabulous breakfast set. Now is the perfect time for it to be enjoyed in your home.

The design work is delicate and well executed. The manufacturer is Heinrich and Co. They began in 1896 in Selb, Bavaria as porcelain painters. In 1903, they began manufacturing their own collection. Currently, they are owned by Villeroy & Boch. Given the markings and its serial number #17274, I place this set in the 1930s. The style is called Anmut. And it’s pattern is “cherry blossom” and sometimes referred to as “dogwood.”

This vintage set includes everything you need to serve a delightful breakfast for two. There is both a coffee and tea pot, creamer and sugar, 2 tea cups and saucers, 2 coffee cups and saucers, 2 egg dishes, and 2 breakfast plates. The set is in very good condition with no crazing to the glaze, or cracks or chips to the rims. There is some minor vintage wear to a few of the gold rims. Nothing that detracts from its elegance. On close inspection on the spout of the coffee pot, there has been a repair. I included two photos - one from the top and one from the underside. No doubt whoever damaged this pot must have felt the repercussions of their action. Yet, there is still much more coffee to be served. The repair cannot be seen while the pot is displayed but it needs to be noted. Special care will be taken in preparing this set to make its long journey. Please note, that the tray, napkins, and flowers are not included with the set.

Coffee pot is 4 1/2 inches high

Teapot is 3 1/2 inches high

Egg plates are 4 inches in diameter

Plate is 7 1/2 inches in diameter
