I found this fabulous example of a kelsch linen duvet or comforter cover in Strasbourg, France. This fabric has been made by hand in Alsace since the 12th century. Durable, quality, washes beautifully. I adore the muted red color with its homespun cream linen backing. Both sides have a central seam and the cover is hand sewn. Cream ribbon ties close the top and the maker added her initials "PM" in a small monogram at the top. See photos of the impressive seam and lovely embroidery. I do not believe this early 20th-century cover has been used. Or if it has, not often and it was carefully stored so to preserve it in fantastic condition. Carefully going over the fabric, I noticed a tiny rust spot on the back that can be removed with a touch of Fels Naptha soap. (My "go to" spot remover for antique fabrics.) Duvets of this quality do not come along often. She is ready to add a bit of sophisticated, french farmhouse design to your guest room.

Measurements : 73 inches long x 55 inches wide
